Ch Tintagel
Ch Tintagel was owned and bred by Mrs Surtees Monkland and was one of a number of famous Champion Bulldogs she owned. The artist, Frederick Thomas Daws, was born in London and studied at Lambeth School of Art. His earlier work was reproduced in such publications as the Illustrated London News and he exhibited his first picture a the Royal Academy in 1896. He found success not only in Britain but also in America and India. For the Maharajah of Nepal he painted 11 murals as well as sculptures. Although he is perhaps best known as a painter. He executed a number of pieces that were cast in bronze and for Royal Doulton he modelled most of the dogs in their Champion Dogs range
