This painting shows the end of a successful course at the Beacon Hill meeting in October 1848. The mounted judge can be seen in the distance on a grey horse and in the foreground with the two dogs, Brilliant and Leeway, are a kennel boy, the winning dogs owner holding the hare and a trainer. An engraving from the painting by E Hacker appeared as a frontispiece to The Greyhound by Stonehenge, first published in 1853
